Had an absolutely awesome time with Priss last night!
We both skipped out of work a little early in order to get to downtown Nashville, snag a good safe parking spot and grab an early dinner.
We had intended on going to Demo's, but instead decided on The Old Spaghetti Factory.
I chose the Spinach & Cheese Ravioli and Priss went with Spinach Tortellini and Alfredo Sauce. Both were delicious, but it's safe to say the Spumoni was our favorite part. Y*U*M!
We had tickets to see the Broadway Musical 'WICKED' - and it was - wickedly awesome! (sorry, couldn't resist)
I love a movie, book, or in this case a play, that causes me to walk away still mulling it over and days down the road going - 'Oh - yeahhh... .' Little did I know - this one definitely wouldn't disappoint.
My quick review:
Wicked is based on the story of a spoiled rich girl, Glinda (the 'Ga' is silent) who becomes known as The Good Witch
and Elphaba, (Elphie - 'Well it's a little Perky')
who is exceptionally bright and surprisingly witty considering her life thus far.
Oh - and she becomes known (unfortunately) as the Wicked Witch of the West.
Numerous scenes point to what we all claim to know - how quickly others are to judge in every day life - in this particular case, because someone is green.
It broaches on the subject of how we're never fully prepared
for whose path might unexpectedly cross our own
or for what deep and beautiful friendships can be formed as a result.
The type of friendship that will remain strong
regardless of whether life takes you in completely different directions
or at times you just have to agree to disagree.
The special type of friendship that just continues to grow and grow and grow.
You know, the real BFF kind:)
I'm so glad Elphie and Glinda gave us a glimpse into theirs through Wicked. It is cute, cute, cute!! Catch it if you can.
Oh and FYI...I will never watch The Wizard of Oz thru the same eyes again.
* Note to Priss * I feel a Sunday afternoon movie date comin' on. I'll provide the popcorn!
Until later :)
